It’s no secret that Substance Use Disorders are a problem that people are grappling with in communities across the US. While much focus has been placed on how substance misuse and addiction can impact individuals and families, far less attention is given to how this issue can impact businesses of all sizes. Of adults with Substance Use Disorders (SUD), 75% are in the workforce. For many businesses, employees battling SUD are valued members of the team, but employers often go unaware of the personal battle that their employee may be fighting.

The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce is proud to be made up of businesses that value their employees’ health. This is why we have invited Tom Goris of Banyan Treatment Center to present on this topic, including:

-The status of Substance Use Disorders in the overall population
-Identifying physical and behavioral symptoms in employees
-How to approach an employee -How to provide support
-Developing and implementing policies that follow state and federal laws
