** Cancelled ** Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center’s comprehensive training series will help you develop the knowledge and skills to appropriately assist victims and survivors of domestic violence. This 30-hour training series complies with Department of Public Health (DPH) requirements for domestic violence advocates in Massachusetts. It is ideal for social service providers, health care professionals, law enforcement, faith leaders and all interested in working to end domestic violence. Time: All Sessions 9am – 4pm Cost: $75 per session ($90 with CEUs) or $300 for all five sessions ($360 with CEUs) Session 1 (Monday 4/6) History & Context of Domestic Violence What is Domestic Abuse and What are the Types The Cycle of Abuse Session 2 (Wednesday 4/8) Understanding the Abuser Barriers to Leaving Working with Marginalized & Underserved Populations Session 3 (Friday 4/10) Trauma Informed Responses to Domestic Violence Impact of Violence on Children Counseling Skills & Safety Planning Session 4 (Monday (4/13) Risk Assessment Working with Survivors with Mental Health Issues Working with Survivors with Substance Use Issues Police Response to Domestic Violence Session 5 (Wednesday 4/15) Legal Issues Role Plays Secondary Traumatic Stress, Boundaries & Self-Care Social Work Continuing Education Units are available.
