Business & Breakfast: Supporting Youth In Amesbury- What is your role?

Business & Breakfast: Supporting Youth In Amesbury- What is your role?

Wednesday, July 24, 2019 (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

When young people feel connected to their community it has positive effects both for the youth themselves and the community as a whole. Youth who are supported, take responsibility, and feel valued by the community are more likely to succeed in life and less likely to participate in risky behaviors like drinking alcohol, or violence. We all have a role to play in the positive development of the young people of Amesbury, whether or not we have direct contact with them.

In Amesbury, Tina Los, MPH, Regional Project Coordinator of the Essex County Asset Builder (ECAB) Network has activated a new coalition. The Partnership for Amesbury Community and Teens (PACT) hit the ground running in the spring of 2019 with a Seize your Summer event at AHS. They successfully engaged dozens of local businesses and organizations who placed students in summer internships and jobs. Feedback from the event was positive and they look forward to growing as a group and continuing to build connections between the schools and local businesses. Get started by attending this months Business & Breakfast!

The discussion will include:

  • Tips for working with young people
  • Tips for hiring young people
  • How to make your business young people friendly- even if you are not employing young people
  • How businesses have an impact on shaping the culture of the community
